SOLAR AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY GRANTS OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS

COMMUNITY organisations in the Riverina and Central West can apply for a grant of up to $12,500 for energy generation and storage projects and other energy efficiency proposals.

Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said two grants were available in each electorate for not-for-profit groups through the Liberal and Nationals Government’s Community Energy Efficiency and Solar Grants 2020 program which opened for applications today.

“I know many community groups in our region are keen to switch on to alternative sources of energy and a Government grant would be a huge leg up to achieving that goal,” Mr McCormack said.

Eligible applicants include incorporated, not-for-profit community groups, such as community owned kindergartens, welfare centres, community centres, women’s associations, men’s sheds, community owned childcare centres, community sporting clubs, Scout and Guide groups, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community groups and Rural Fire Services.

Full details of eligibility requirements and how to apply are available on the website www.business.gov.au. Further information can also be obtained by telephoning 13 28 46 between 8am and 8pm weekdays.

A maximum of six applications will be accepted for each electorate and grants will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come first-served basis.

Mr McCormack said the grants would not require a co-contribution.
