Growing our local economy

Having grown up in the Riverina, and with children about to enter the workforce, Michael is committed to ensuring that young people are given every opportunity to stay in our region.

This means fostering entry level jobs and apprenticeships and attracting new investment to the region. It also means working to secure new training opportunities for local students.

Kay Hull worked hard to bring investment and opportunities for young people to the Riverina. The Rex pilot training academy and the Veterinary Science school at Charles Sturt University were both projects for which Kay lobbied successfully as our local member.

Michael also has a proven track record in this regard. In 1997 Michael was one of the founding members of the Save Our Base Task Force, formed to stop the closure of the RAAF base at Forest Hill. After nearly three years of lobbying the Prime Minister announced that not only would the base be kept open, but that it would be expanded.

As a member of parliament Michael will fight to bring jobs and investment to our region and keep them here.
