McCormack encourages education submissions
The Nationals’ Member for Riverina Michael McCormack is encouraging parents and students in the Riverina and Central West to have their say in a landmark review spearheaded by Mr David Gonski AC.
The Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools is designed to help shape the future of Australia’s education system.
Mr McCormack said the review was the perfect opportunity for people across the education system to share their ideas and effect real change in schools in the region.
“The Liberals and Nationals in Government are committed to giving our children the best possible chance to achieve their academic dreams,” Mr McCormack said.
“To do this, I encourage people involved in the education system to have their say and show us the best path forward.”
The Minister for Education and Training, Senator Simon Birmingham, said the review would determine the best evidence-based practices for students and would help guide how schools and educators focus the extra resources being delivered in classrooms.
“The input of educators, academics and people at the coal face of our school system, combined with the leadership and expertise of Mr Gonski and his panel, will be invaluable to guiding how our record levels of funding for students should be used most effectively,” Senator Birmingham said.
An Issues Paper is now available, which frames the call for public submissions with key questions relating to the Terms of Reference for the Review.
The Issues Paper and information on how to lodge a submission are available from: www.education.gov.au/educationalexcellencereview.
The review headed my Mr Gonski will report back to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Mr Birmingham by March, 2018.
