D’AGUILAR HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS D’LIVERED
SAFETY improvements on the D’Aguilar Highway between Caboolture and Kilcoy in Queensland are now complete.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the project will provide motorists with a safer road as well as improved access to the area’s bus network.
“The overtaking lane project at Woodford is the final phase of the wider D’Aguilar Highway upgrade, which connects the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Somerset region to the Bruce Highway,” Mr McCormack said.
“The completion of two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane will be a welcome relief to the community around Woodford with around 14,000 vehicles using the highway each day.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience since construction started on these important safety upgrades in October 2015.”
The recent works also included upgrading the Ironbark Drive and Chambers Road intersections, shoulder widening and installation of a one-metre-wide painted centre median after the scope of the project was extended.
Safety improvements at Wamuran were completed as part of the upgrade in October 2016.
Line markings and a second sealing of the road will be undertaken in early 2019 as application of the second coat seal in the warmer months will improve the longevity of the road surface.
The $16 million D’Aguilar Highway Safety Project was fully funded by the Federal Liberal and Nationals’ Government.
