ARTISTIC FLAIR ON SHOW IN COLOURING COMPETITION
Riverina MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack has been left impressed at the artistic flair of the students who entered his 2019 Christmas colouring competition.
This year’s theme was Christmas in the Riverina and Central West and Mr McCormack said that this year’s competition was one of his toughest to judge yet, with close to 1200 entries from across the entire electorate.
“I was overwhelmed with the number and quality of entries submitted this year, and they were all fantastic, which made selecting the winner tough,” Mr McCormack said.
“Each year I am overwhelmed by the number and quality of the entrants – and 2019 was no different.”
After much deliberation Year 2 student, Amelia-Rose Blampied, 8, from St Mary’s War Memorial School, West Wyalong was the overall competition winner this year; William Tindal, 8, of Year 2 from St Joseph’s Primary School Wagga Wagga and Noah Merriman, 8, of Year 2 from Middleton Public School, Parkes taking out second and third place respectively.
“Each winner was presented with a book and I proudly informed them that their drawings will feature on my 2019 Christmas card which will be sent to the likes of the Prime Minister and other notable community members and prominent political figures,” Mr McCormack said.
“I would like to thank each and every student who submitted an entry; it is always incredibly pleasing to receive such a high volume of entries.”
“I look forward to next year’s submissions, and thank you and congratulations to all entrants and the winners.”
