FEDERAL FUNDS ANNOUNCED FOR UCI 2020 BMX SUPERCROSS WORLD CUP

The Shepparton community is set to benefit from a share of $1,697,450 funding allocated to the Murray Electorate under Round 3 of the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government’s Building Better Regions Fund. The Greater Shepparton City Council has been granted $145,000 to assist with the running of the UCI 2020 BMX Supercross World Cup will have entrants from 30 countries and take place January 31-February 2, 2020. The event and accompanying festival expects to host over 10,000 visitors to our region, with an expected economic impact of more than $2.7 million dollars.

Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum MP is delighted to see the Goulburn Valley have the opportunity to host an event of this calibre and stated “it is projects such as this that make our regional communities even better places to live, work and raise a family and I’m excited to Shepparton’s growing reputation for hosting world class sporting events.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Liberal and Nationals Government is committed to ensuring Australia’s regions remain strong, resilient and prosperous in the long term.

“In this round of the Building Better Regions Fund we are investing more than $70 million in regional tourism infrastructure, to support those many regional communities that rely on tourism to bolster their economy” Mr McCormack said.

“We have seen fantastic outcomes from the first two rounds, and today’s announcement continues our commitment to unlocking the economic potential of regional Australia and ensuring our regions continue to thrive.”
