INVESTING IN LOCAL PROJECTS FOR LATROBE
Tasmania’s Latrobe region will receive $7.63 million worth of local projects thanks to Federal Liberal and Nationals Government funding.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said $3.4 million will be invested in a flood levee system for the town of Latrobe.
“This important funding will go towards the construction of a levee bank and earth and engineering works,” Mr McCormack said.
Liberal Senator for Tasmania Richard Colbeck said the Government is also investing $230,000 to upgrade Stage 2 of the Port Sorell Surf Club.
“The funding will go towards new change rooms, showers and toilets to cater for a growing number of users,” Senator Colbeck said.
“The Liberals and Nationals are investing in local projects because we understand how important it is to secure the future of our community organisations.”
The Nationals’ Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin said $4 million will be spent redeveloping the popular Camp Banksia site.
“Work will include improving disability access to amenities and the creation of a Port Sorell Performing Arts Hub on the site,” Senator Martin said.
