INVESTING IN LOCAL PROJECTS FOR NORTHERN MIDLANDS
Tasmania’s Northern Midlands region will receive more than $7 million worth of local projects thanks to Federal Liberal and Nationals Government funding.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said $4 million will be invested in the Longford Urban Design project.
“The funding will go towards new pathways, parks, bikeways and road signage infrastructure to encourage more people to get outside, stay active and enjoy the region’s beauty,” Mr McCormack said.
The Nationals Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin said $2.6 million will be invested in the new Perth Community and Early Learning Centre.
“There is a growing number of young families who now call Perth home and it’s so important their children have access to quality care and highly trained educators close to home,” Senator Martin said.
Liberal Senator for Tasmania Jonathon Duniam said the Government is also investing $400,000 to implement the Cressy Swimming Pool Master Plan.
“The kiosk and entry to the pool will be upgraded, along with the construction of new fences, shade structures, a carpark, playground and fixed seating. We’ll also purchase a new portable barbeque for family poolside lunches on hot summer days,” Senator Duniam said.
“The Liberals and Nationals are also investing $50,000 in the upgrade of the Avoca Children’s Playground. The old playground is at the end of its useful life so we’ll be replacing it with new equipment and landscaping.”
