BACK TEAM AUSTRALIA OR RESIGN: ADAM BANDT MUST GO
Reports today Greens Leader Adam Bandt is urging a foreign Government to act to the detriment of Australia’s national interest are deeply concerning.
By urging a foreign Government to agitate for a change to Australia’s domestic policies through a Free Trade Agreement, the Greens have attempted to undermine our democracy.
In telling a foreign Government to stop buying Australian coal, Adam Bandt is telling tens of thousands of workers in our resources industry that their jobs don’t matter.
He is telling tens of thousands of families that they shouldn’t be able to put food on the table. He is telling small and medium-sized businesses that they should just shut up shop.
This is an attack on Australian jobs. An attack on Australia’s national interest. An attack on an industry that so many people rely upon for an income.
If you want to change policy in Australia, you don’t do it by trying to outsource policy-making to a foreign entity – you change it by running for election and winning enough votes to form a Government.
The Greens have today shown, yet again, why they will never be more than a fringe party.
Adam Bandt is Australia’s modern-day Benedict Arnold – with the same initials (albeit the other way around) – this is treacherous behaviour.
This is especially appalling given Australia has beaten its Kyoto-era targets by up to 430 million tonnes and our emissions are now more than 14 per cent below 2005 levels.
The Nationals urge Mr Bandt to immediately withdraw his comments and apologise to the thousands of workers who rely on Australia’s resource industry for their livelihood. If Mr Bandt does not withdraw these comments, he should resign from Parliament today.
