BUSINESSES URGED TO SUPPORT OUR VETERANS
Riverina and Central West businesses are being encouraged to support our military veterans by participating in a new recognition program which offers discounts and other support.
Riverina Nationals’ MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack is inviting regional businesses to participate in the Veterans Recognition Program by providing offers to Veteran Card holders.
“This can be in the form of a percentage discount on retail goods and services either in-store or online, but any support is appreciated and the benefit to be offered is entirely at the business’s discretion,” Mr McCormack said.
Information packs which provide businesses with details on how they can participate in the program can be obtained by telephoning Mr McCormack’s Wagga Wagga electorate office on (02) 6921 4600 or by emailing michael.mccormack.mp@aph.gov.au.
Mr McCormack said the Department of Veterans’ Affairs was working with Australian Partners of Defence (APOD) to make it easier for businesses and organisations to recognise and acknowledge the unique nature of military service and the contribution to our nation by veterans and their families.
“There are thousands of veterans living in the Riverina and Central West who have served their country with distinction and pride and deserve discounts as a small but important recognition of their service,” Mr McCormack said.
More than 500 businesses around the country are already collectively making more than 10,000 offers available for Veteran Card holders.
Riverina and Central West businesses can directly register their specific offers for Veteran Card holders at apod.com.au/about/business-partners. Registration is free and there is no ongoing cost to businesses.
The business information packs include details about APOD as well as signage and stickers which businesses can display to tell veterans they are participating in the program.
