SCHOOL GRANT TO BENEFIT MURRUMBURRAH COMMUNITY
A $19,770 Local Schools Community Fund grant for Trinity Catholic Primary School at Murrumburrah will benefit not just students but also the wider community, says Riverina Nationals’ MP and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack.
Mr McCormack made the comment while visiting the school today.
“Trinity Catholic Primary school has a wonderful hall which is made available to the wider community for various functions and events, but it badly needs an upgrade – new carpet, painting and replacing the tattered stage curtain,” Mr McCormack said.
“An upgrade will provide a fantastic environment for students, staff and local groups who rely upon the hall to hold gatherings which are so important to tight-knit communities, such as Murrumburrah.
“The improvement work, which would not have gone ahead without the grant, will also inject money into the Hilltops region.”
Trinity Catholic Primary School Assistant Principal Rebecca Cooper welcomed the Government assitance.
“This grant will enable us to upgrade our school hall which hasn't had any form of renovation for many years,” Mrs Cooper said.
“It gives us access to funds that we would never be able to raise ourselves.
“For a small rural Catholic school, this is big news and something we are truly thankful for.”
The grant to Trinity Catholic Primary School was one of 20 grants worth a total of $200,000 approved in the Riverina electorate through the Liberal and Nationals Government’s $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund.
