NEW LIGHTS UNVEILED AT WAGGA WAGGA'S RAWLINGS PARK

Member for Riverina and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack has congratulated Football Wagga Wagga for the successful completion of its current Rawlings Park lighting upgrade.

Football Wagga Wagga last year secured a $450,000 Federal Government grant through the Community Sport Infrastructure Program to assist in the lighting of fields 2, 3 and 4.

Mr McCormack today visited Rawlings Park to look at the new lights as Football Wagga Wagga prepares to resume its 2020 season.

“Football Wagga Wagga has a long-term vision to provide the very best facilities for players to train and play games on day and night and I am delighted the Liberal and Nationals Government delivered for this forward-thinking organisation,” Mr McCormack said.

The addition of lights to Rawlings Park comes at a perfect time to coincide with the commencement of the 2020 season following the suspension of sport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All fields at Rawlings Park are now available for multiple clubs to utilise at the same time since the completion of this long-awaited project, and it is a wonderful sight to see our sport back in action after an uncertain and unprecedented time,” said Football Wagga Wagga’s strategy and planning officer, Tim Barter.

Football Wagga Wagga thanked Mr McCormack immensely for the opportunity to expand its sport and the facilities as it aims to become the football centre of excellence for the Riverina.

“We are eager to showcase the new addition to Rawlings Park,” Mr Barter said.
