$500,000 ECONOMIC BOOST FOR BLAND SHIRE

New connected walking trails in West Wyalong and Wyalong are being delivered under the Federal Government’s Economic Development Program.

Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said the grants program helped to strengthen economies of local Murray-Darling Basin communities.

“This $500,000 grant providing new walking trails will create jobs and stimulate the Bland Shire economy,” Mr McCormack said.

“The project was selected to receive funding under Round 3 and will help communities by using local suppliers and resources as well as through local knowledge to drive the best outcomes for our region.

“The Federal Government is committed to supporting our regional communities.”

Minister for Resources and Water Keith Pitt said the Bland Shire project was part of the ongoing announcments regarding Round 3 of the program.

“I will announce further successful projects to create new jobs in Murray-Darling Basin communities as these are approved and finalised,” Minister Pitt said.

“Across the Basin, people have been dealing with the biggest water reform in Australia’s history along with the drought, demographic change and commodity price change.

“Close to $39 million of funding has already been approved under Rounds 1 and 2 of the program for a huge array of activities throughout Murray-Darling Basin communities.”
