FUNDING AVAILABLE TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITIES STRONGER

Riverina MP Michael McCormack is urging community organisations and councils throughout the Riverina and Central West to see if they are eligible for funding under the latest round of the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).

Mr McCormack said many not-for-profit community organisations and councils across the electorate have benefited from the previous seven rounds of the SCP.

“Community groups throughout the Riverina and Central West contribute so much to our local community and make our region such a great place to live, work and raise a family,” Mr McCormack said.

“Previous rounds of the Stronger Communities Programme have funded many important small-scale infrastructure projects, such as a disability-safe basketball and netball court for the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre, upgrading the Tarcutta Country Women’s Association branch building, improved disability access at Wagga Wagga’s 2AAAFM and improvements to the Roundhouse Museum at Junee.

“Round 8 will see a further $150,000 invested into local groups across the Riverina electorate.”

Mr McCormack urged all eligible Riverina and Central West not-for-profit organisations to submit an expression of interest.

Expressions of interest are open until 20 March 2023. A consultation committee will then help Mr McCormack assess those who express interest. Organisations intending on applying need to first submit an expression of interest by this date.

Expressions of interest should include a short description of the project, total cost, details of matching funding (for councils), why the project is important to the community and contact details.

Expressions of Interest forms can be requested by emailing michael.mccormack.mp@aph.gov.au or by contacting Mr McCormack’s Wagga Wagga electorate office on 6921 4600. The office can also provide further information about eligibility.

The expression of interest form can also be downloaded from here.

After the expression of interest period, Mr McCormack will officially invite the successful proponents to submit an application. A maximum of 20 projects will be funded across the electorate. Grants will be available between $2,500 and $20,000 for successful applications, totalling $150,000.
