McCORMACK WELCOMES ROAD AND BRIDGE UPGRADES

Member for Riverina Michael McCormack has welcomed planned improvements to roads and bridges in the Parkes and Forbes Local Government Areas worth more than $18 million.

“The people of Parkes and Forbes and visitors to those areas need and deserve decent roads and bridges,” Mr McCormack said.

“As we know, floods have badly damaged many Central West roads and bridges over recent years, so these repairs and improvements are certainly good news.”

The works are part of the $32 million Regional Transport Resilience Fund, jointly funded by the NSW and Federal Governments to repair and upgrade transport infrastructure damaged by the disastrous 2022 floods in the Central West.

Planned projects in Parkes Shire are:

• $5.65 million for a new bridge on The Bogan Way between Trundle and Parkes; a new bridge on Middle Trundle Road; and the installation of culverts and causeways at various locations on Middle Trundle Road.

• $1.08 million for the installation of new concrete causeways as part of Council’s causeway improvement program.

Planned projects in Forbes Shire are:

• $5.43 million to upgrade four culverts and upgrade pavement at various locations across the Council area.

• $4.4 million to upgrade five culverts and pavement on Wirrinya Road.

• $1.6 million for pavement upgrades on Henry Lawson Way; culvert replacement and pavement upgrades at various locations on Pinnacle Road; and pavement upgrades at various locations on Waugan Road.

The Regional Transport Resilience Fund is part of a $100 million Central West Recovery and Resilience Package.
