RIVERINA ELECTORATE CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack is proud to announce the winners of his 11th annual Christmas card design competition, themed “We Wish you a Riverina Christmas”.
More than 1,000 Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students from across the electorate put their minds and talents to work to create drawings which represent what Christmas in the Riverina means to them.
This year’s winning design was submitted by South Wagga Public School Year 2 student Billy Macleod, 8.
The entry which was judged runner-up was from The Rock Central School, Year 1 student Isabelle Elwin, 7. Third place was awarded to Isabelle Patterson, 7, a Year 1 student at St Brendan’s Primary School, Ganmain.
“Well done to all students who entered the competition,” Mr McCormack said.
“Each student will receive a certificate to recognise their efforts in this year’s competition.
“Billy’s first place drawing of Santa Claus driving a front-end loader, delivering presents with the bucket, was a unique take which deserves praise for its creativity.
“Each of the three winning entries will soon receive a commemorative book prize, and I extend my thanks to school teachers, staff and students who helped create another successful Christmas card competition.
“I am excited to send this year’s Christmas card to community members and my Parliamentary colleagues to showcase the wonderful art each of the three winning students created.
“It is always a delight to look at all the competition entries arriving in the office and to be reminded of what a magical time of year this is for children across the Riverina and Central West.”
