McCormack WELCOMES FUNDING FOR URALBA HOSTEL
Aged care residents of Uralba Hostel, in Gundagai, are set to benefit from $1,933,387 in funding from the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program to support the facility’s refurbishment.
Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack has welcomed the funding as vital for regional communities such as Gundagai.
“As we all know, adequate aged care services are vital for regional communities,” Mr McCormack said.
“Good services ensure that as we get older, we don’t have to move away to bigger cities and can continue to live in the communities we want to — close to friends and family.
“The Gundagai community is now set to benefit from more than $1.9 million delivered to Uralba Hostel under the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program, and I am very pleased to welcome the recent funding.
“The funding will make a world of difference to Uralba Hostel’s workers and residents and will go a long way in supporting plans to convert existing rooms into palliative care rooms and upgrade existing facilities.
“I am eager to see the upgrades delivered, ensuring the Gundagai community continues to have top-notch aged care services.
“I also extend my thanks to the wonderful nurses, volunteers and everyone else working in our aged care system. You all do remarkable work supporting our older residents in their Autumn years.
“Since elected to Parliament I have consistently lobbied for the betterment and preservation of aged care services in the Riverina.
“The Coalition, whilst in Government, secured $300 million in additional capital funding through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program for regional, rural and remote aged care providers to upgrade facilities.
“Many regional communities across Australia are now benefiting from enhanced aged care facilities due to the Coalition’s funding.
“The people of the Riverina can rest assured with the knowledge if the Coalition is elected to Government at the upcoming election, regional aged care services will receive the attention and support they deserve.”
