Nats make a splash with $246,000 Coolamon Shire pool upgrades

Public pools at Ardlethan and Ganmain are set to receive much-needed upgrades, thanks to a commitment made today by Riverina Nationals’ MP Michael McCormack.

“In many country communities, the local swimming pool is the place to be in summer. In the Coolamon Shire, everyone knows it is a way of life,” Mr McCormack said.

“It’s not just the training ground for local swimming clubs and fitness organisations, it also plays a vital role in community health and safety.

“That’s why The Nationals have committed $246,000 to funding capital works, alongside Coolamon Shire Council, to ensure both Ardlethan and Ganmain have a local pool complex which meets their growing needs.”

The $246,000 commitment will fund filtration and change room upgrades to the Ganmain and Ardlethan pools, completing the work undertaken by Coolamon Shire Council.

Coolamon Shire Mayor John Seymour praised the Federal Government’s commitment.

“This funding is the final piece in the puzzle to make our community pools the modern facilities they should be,” Cr Seymour said.

“Many of our local facilities have not been upgraded since they were built by volunteer labour in the 1960s and 1970s, which is why Council has already invested money to modernise them.

“A $246,000 commitment from the Federal Government will future proof our pools for the next three or four decades.”

The funding will be delivered by a re-elected Federal Coalition Government.
