INVESTING IN LOCAL PROJECTS FOR THE CENTRAL COAST
Tasmania’s Central Coast region will receive $6.5 million of Federal Liberal and Nationals Government funding to upgrade the Penguin Foreshore.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Liberals and Nationals are investing in local projects because we understand Australia is made of more than big infrastructure projects.
“The funding will go towards a new foreshore boardwalk, the remediation of the old surf club and beach repairs including an aesthetically pleasing wall system for the full length of Penguin Beach to protect it from erosion,” Mr McCormack said.
Liberal Senator for Tasmania Richard Colbeck said a board walk along the entire length of Penguin Beach will be built.
“We’ll also improve beach access for emergency and council vehicles and remediate the former surf club back to its natural state,” Senator Colbeck said.
"The boardwalk will be a great addition to the tourism experience on the North West Coast."
The Nationals’ Senator for Tasmania Steve Martin said this is a concrete example of the Liberals and Nationals in Government building stronger regional communities across Tasmania.
“I’m proud to have won this project for my local community and am proud to be seeing it through to fruition,” Senator Martin said.
