FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN WELCOMED

Riverina MP Michael McCormack has welcomed the Federal election date announcement, saying he is putting his name forward to continue delivering for the Riverina and Central West.

“I am looking forward to the election campaign and, as I always do, listening to people throughout the Riverina and Central West on their issues and opportunities leading up to the 21 May election,” Mr McCormack said.

“I have the dedication, energy and experience to continue to deliver as I’ve done for the past 11 years.

“I am very humbled to be the Member for Riverina. I have always put local interests and people first and look forward, if given the opportunity, to do my very best to represent these fantastic communities and continue to take their concerns to Canberra.

“There is still plenty of work to do and I have the zest and determination to deliver outcomes the people of the Riverina and Central West need, want, expect and, most importantly, deserve.

“I love representing this region and doing what I can to ensure our beautiful part of the world continues to prosper.

“These past few years have been difficult with drought, fires, floods, a mouse plague and, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic having such an effect on people’s lives, particularly in regional and rural Australia, but we have done very well when you compare the nation’s health and economic response and recovery driven by decisive policy decisions made by this Government under quite extraordinary circumstances.

“The Liberal and Nationals’ Government has outlined its plan in the recent Budget which will set us on the best path to continue to grow the economy, to continue to support those who need it most and to continue to deliver for the regions, which have never previously seen the level of funding this Government has delivered through initiatives such as the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program I put in place as Deputy Prime Minister.

“It is this strong platform of policies and real outcomes for local communities that I will be concentrating on – not delving into personal attacks. Running for public office takes courage and I respect anyone who puts their name on a ballot paper for election.”
